Unrehearsed reading/Ambigú, 12.05.2022, 20:00, Theater unterm Dach
Translated from the Spanish by Franziska Muche and Lea Saland

On the 12th of May, 2022, the kick-off event for the thematic focus on New Spanish-Language Drama will take place at Berlin’s Theater unterm Dach as part of the drama panorama series of events panorama #2: übertheaterübersetzen. Mieter by Spanish author Paco Gámez will be presented in a unrehearsed reading based on the performance principle Ambigú. The play will be published by by Neofelis Verlag in the autumn of 2022 in the anthology Schattenschwimmer edited by Carola Heinrich and Franziska Muche.
Mieter tells the drama of a young man who is forced to leave his apartment after a rent increase. What does it mean to pack a lovingly designed “home” into cardboard boxes with the prospect of living in ever smaller apartments, further and further away from the city, pushed ever closer to the margins of society? Playwright Paco Gámez deals with this question in a particularly entertaining way. A story that begins realistically, but soon takes an unexpected turn into the mythical. A play of great linguistic precision, an autobiographical fiction that reflects the experience of an entire generation.
Followed by an audience discussion with Franziska Muche, Thorsten Schlenger and Paco Gámez (Zoom).
Host: Franziska Muche
Dramaturgy: Alexander Schröder
Perfomers: Robert Martin, Uli Plessmann, Frieda Pöschel, Kotbong Yang
