Translating political theatre with the examples of dramatists Roman Sikora and Hanoch Levin
The translation of political plays requires a special approach – in addition to linguistic transfer, contexts, sociopolitical discourses and also theatre traditions must be conveyed. This will be the topic of a discussion with Czech playwright Roman Sikora, translator Barbora Schnelle, and translator and publisher Matthias Naumann.
The occasion for the discussion is the publication of two anthologies by Roman Sikora: Frühstück mit Leviathan (translated into German by Barbora Schnelle) and Hanoch Levin: Die im Dunkeln gehen (translated into German by Matthias Naumann) in the book series Drama Panorama published by Neofelis Verlag. Extracts will be read by Henning Bochert.
