Workshop
Marius von Mayenburg and the Slovakian translator and playwright, Roman Olekšák , will be working together on the Slovakian final draft of Olekšák’s translation of Mayenburg’s play The Dog, the Night, and the Knife (Der Hund, die Nacht und das Messer). The last phase of their joined work is open to participants and Olekšák will discuss the topic, Poetological introduction to the work of Marius von Mayenburg and the specifics in translating his plays, with them, talking about his methodical approach. We will be working with text excerpts. The workshop language is German. Knowledge of a Slavic language is advantageous.

Panorama-Café
Our “Guest Hosts” will answer our workshop participants’ questions at the “Roundtable”. Our first Guest Hosts are Roman Olekšák and his German translator, Mirko Kraetsch. They will share the challenges of translating for the stage, giving specific examples from their experience.
