In the TAZ newspaper on June 30, 2025, Yelizaveta Landenberger wrote in her article \u201cVon Wuchermieten und Trollm\u00fcttern\u201d (On exorbitant rents and troll mothers): \u201cWhile many Czechs understand German, hardly anyone in this country speaks the language of their neighbors. People know and appreciate their beer, but not their rich culture. It is to the credit of the Czech theater festival in Berlin that it is reversing this asymmetrical relationship.\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Radio Prague International broadcast an interview with festival director Barbora Schnelle on June 27, 2025, in which she said, among other things: \u201dWe have the Prague Theater Festival of German Language in Prague, which shows many productions. And there are generally many German-language plays performed on Czech stages. That\u2019s why I thought it would be exciting to present Czech theater here in Berlin and translate Czech plays into German. So we launched the festival in 2014. At the time, we realized that Berlin is a hub for European theater. It is important, especially in Central Europe, to have a German translation of a play because German-language theater has a great influence within Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
