In Czech with German surtitles<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A critical exploration of V\u00e1clav Havel’s political ideas and the world of his plays form the basis of this production the young, progressive ensemble, the Lachende Bestien from Prague. What would Ferdinand Van\u011bk, Havel’s alter ego from his plays, do today? From today’s perspective, how can we “live in truth”?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the form of a performative monologue, the production deals with themes such as the role of intellectuals in public life, the legacy of postcommunism and the splintering of society, and questions the possibilities in contemporary political theatre. Featuring a live band on stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drama Panorama will present the biennial festival of contemporary Czech theatre Ein St\u00fcck: Tschechien<\/strong> once again in June 2020. Plays by young Czech dramatists Dagmar Radov\u00e1, Tereza Semotamov\u00e1 and Martina Kinsk\u00e1 will be presented in staged readings, along with two Czech guest performances: SEZUAN<\/em><\/strong> (based on Brecht)<\/em><\/strong> by the Lachende Bestien (directed by Michal H\u00e1ba) and Der Untergang des Hauses Usher (based on E.A. Poe)<\/em><\/strong> by the Prague theatre group Depresivn\u00ed d\u011bti tou\u017e\u00ed po pen\u011bz\u00edch (eng. depressed children long for money; directed by Jakub \u010cerm\u00e1k). <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
