EURODRAM <\/strong>is a network active across Europe that fosters exchange between translators, writers and the European theatre scene.<\/p>\n

Every spring, the different committees compile a selection of three texts \u2013 alternating yearly between original plays and play translations.<\/p>\n

For the 2018 selection, the German EURODRAM committee is looking for original plays written in German. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The plays must not be older than five years. They should have had a premiere production, but no further productions or foreign-language productions.<\/p>\n

The residence and nationality of the author are irrelevant for selection.<\/p>\n

The 2018 selection will be presented in April 2018 in Vienna in the Theater Drachengasse as a staged reading, after which there will be a discussion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the selected texts will be translated into another EURODRAM network language in cooperation with the Goethe Institute as part of its translation funding programme.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In connection with the event in Vienna, the Federal Chancellery of\u00a0<\/b>Austria will also award a translation bursary of 1,300 Euro for the translation of one of the submitted Austrian plays.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Plays can be submitted either by the authors themselves or by a publisher, but must include written permission from the writer or the publisher that the play can be used for EURODRAM readings free of charge.<\/p>\n

We ask publishers not to submit any more than three plays.<\/p>\n

Interested translators (German – other language) are welcome to apply to cooperate on the project with a CV, bibliography and a test translation.<\/p>\n

Text submissions and applications from translators can be sent to the coordinator of the German committee, Ulrike Syha, at\u00a0syha@gmx.net<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The deadline for submissions is the\u00a010.01.2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The selection will be announced in mid-March 2018.<\/p>\n
