They have been organising the festival Ein St\u00fcck: Tschechien together for ten years and continue to refine their collaborations in translating and editing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Topics of the workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What kind of language does the author choose in his play? How can an equivalent be found in German? What factors need to be taken into account? What are the differences between translating performative language and other genres, such as prose? How should the production process be taken into account when translating theater texts? What do spoken text and stage directions, character speech, attitude and situation mean? And how does communication flow in a play? How does working in tandem work when the partner does not speak the source language? X. \u0160alda Theater in Liberec, where he played more than 30 roles. He is the main author and actor of the F. X. Kalba Theater, which was originally founded as a \u201cpunk offshoot\u201d of the F. X. \u0160alda Theater, but later became independent and merged with the Palmovka Theater. As an author, he participated in the productions <em>Zvrhl\u00e1 Margaret <\/em>(<em>The Perverse Margaret<\/em>) and <em>House of Love 2: N\u00e1vrat hezk\u00fdch hoch\u016f <\/em>(<em>House of Love 2: Return of the Beautiful Boys<\/em>) at the A studio Rub\u00edn Theater. For the F. X. \u0160alda Theater in Liberec he wrote <em>Googling and Fucking<\/em>, <em>Mickey Mouse je mrtv\u00fd <\/em>(<em>Mickey Mouse is Dead<\/em>), <em>LSDown<\/em>, <em>Logo<\/em>, <em>Diani\u0161ka je B\u016fh <\/em>(<em>Diani\u0161ka is God<\/em>) and <em>Atomov\u00e1 ko\u010di\u010dka <\/em>(<em>Atomic Cat<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.drama-panorama.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Barbora-Schnelle_Foto_Jan-Handrejch-1024x606.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7947\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Barbora Schnelle | Photo: Jan Handrejch<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Barbora Schnelle <\/strong>is a Czech-born theater translator, dramaturge, theater critic, cultural manager and editor. She studied theater studies and aesthetics\/cultural studies in Brno, Berlin and Vienna. In 2001, she completed her PhD at the Institute of Theatre Studies at Masaryk University in Brno with a thesis on Elfriede Jelinek\u2019s plays (as a book: <em>Elfriede Jelinek a jej\u00ed divadlo proti divadlu\/Elfriede Jelinek und ihr Theater gegen das Theater<\/em>, Brno, 2006) and worked here as a university assistant. She is co-founder of the \u201cInternet theater magazine of factual rage\u201d <em>Yorick<\/em>. She has been living in Berlin since 2001, working as a freelance translator (plays by Elfriede Jelinek, Thomas Bernhard, Peter Handke, Werner Schwab, Maxi Obexer, Kathrin R\u00f6ggla, Mehdi Moradpour, Wolfram Lotz, Sivan Ben Yishai and others into Czech and plays by Roman Sikora, Eva Prchalov\u00e1, Kate\u0159ina Rud\u010denkov\u00e1, Tom\u00e1\u0161 Diani\u0161ka and others into German). In 2009, together with Antje Oegel, she founded the association \u201cDrama Panorama: Forum for Translation and Theater\u201d, where she has been organising events and workshops ever since. In 2014, she founded the festival of new Czech drama \u201cEin St\u00fcck: Tschechien\u201d in Berlin, which she has been directing and curating ever since. She teaches as a guest lecturer at Masaryk University in Brno and Humboldt University in Berlin. Her anthology of contemporary Czech drama, <em>Von Masochisten und Mamma-Guerillas<\/em>, was published by Neofelis Verlag in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.drama-panorama.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/portrait-bochert.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10680\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Henning Bochert | Photo: Graham Hains<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Henning Bochert.<\/strong> After graduating in acting at the University of Arts Berlin in 1994, Henning acted in productions in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main and Zurich. He has worked as a freelance translator since 1996, mainly in the areas of film and dramatic literature, inluding plays by Eve Leigh, Dawn King, Carlos Murillo, George Brant, Dead Centre, Adam Rapp, Neil Simon, Martin Heckmanns, Christoph Hein, Ingrid Lausund. He has been on the executive committee of Drama Panorama since 2013 and since 2014, he has directed \u2013 together with Barbora Schnelle \u2013 the festival&nbsp;<em>Ein St\u00fcck: Tschechien<\/em>&nbsp;(New Czech Theatre). In the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.drama-panorama.com\/en\/current-projects\/panorama-1-ubertheaterubersetzen\/\">panorama #1: \u00fcbertheater\u00fcbersetzen<\/a>&nbsp;series, he organised events on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.drama-panorama.com\/en\/current-projects\/panorama-1-ubertheaterubersetzen\/multilingualism-in-theatre\/\">Multilingualism in Theatre<\/a>, again with Barbora, and in 2023 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drama-panorama.com\/veranstaltung\/werkstatt-mehrsprachigkeit-auf-der-buehne-im-globalen-kontext\/\" data-type=\"event\" data-id=\"10003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Katharina R\u00f6sch<\/a>. Henning Bochert is a certified translator. In 2023, he was co-curator of the literary translation festival the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.translationale-berlin.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">translationale berlin 2023<\/a>. He spent several years in Los Angeles, where he gained experience as dubbing translator and director for feature films. He has received numerous grants from the Deutscher \u00dcbersetzerfonds, the Goethe Institute, VG Wort and the Berlin Senate. A few years in Los Angeles brought experience as a dubbing translator and feature film director. He is an executive committee member of the artists&#8217; network&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.raum4.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raum4-netzwerk f\u00fcr k\u00fcnstlerische alltagsbew\u00e4ltigung<\/a>, mainly as a dramaturge for international productions, and also a member of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vthea.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">VTheA<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/weltlesebuehne.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weltleseb\u00fchne<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/the-fence.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Fence<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/literaturuebersetzer.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vd\u00dc<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bdue.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BD\u00dc<\/a> and the International Susan Glaspell Society.
