Workshop<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n
Marius von Mayenburg and the Slovakian translator and playwright, Roman Olek\u0161\u00e1k , will be working together on the Slovakian final draft of Olek\u0161\u00e1k\u2019s translation of Mayenburg\u2019s play The Dog, the Night, and the Knife (Der Hund, die Nacht und das Messer). The last phase of their joined work is open to participants and Olek\u0161\u00e1k will discuss the topic, Poetological introduction to the work of Marius von Mayenburg and the specifics in translating his plays, with them, talking about his methodical approach. We will be working with text excerpts. The workshop language is German. Knowledge of a Slavic language is advantageous.<\/p>\n

Our \u201cGuest Hosts\u201d will answer our workshop participants\u2019 questions at the \u201cRoundtable\u201d. Our first Guest Hosts are Roman Olek\u0161\u00e1k and his German translator, Mirko Kraetsch. They will share the challenges of translating for the stage, giving specific examples from their experience.<\/p>\n
