About us
Drama Panorama is a project created by theater translators for theater translators. We are convinced that the best translation of a play cannot be created by computer alone. Through collaboration with playwright, director, dramaturg, and actors, the translation process is brought to life.
We seek to help translators to further study their art, meet with directors and dramaturgs, support each other, introduce each other to new plays and work on projects together.
We seek to be partners for theaters looking for new plays by offering them a platform for the translation of international plays and connecting them with translators.
Drama Panorama is founded by Barbora Schnelle and Antje Oegel.
Are you interested in getting involved? If so, send us an email. We will get back to you right away.
Antje Oegel was born in Dresden and studied theater in Leipzig. During her studies, she worked at the international theater festival euro-scene Leipzig. She later went on to co-manage the theatre Schaubühne Lindenfels in Leipzig, where she initiated international theater and dance as well as literary projects.
In 2002, Antje moved to New York City. In NYC, she worked at the Off-Broadway Theater, MCC Theater, and then worked as a Literary Agent at Bret Adams, Ltd. for over four years. In the fall of 2008, Antje founded her own Theater Agency, AO International. Her agency represents American and international playwrights, theatre-and film designers and directors. She also translates American plays and film into German. Antje lives in Berlin, Chicago and NYC.
Barbora Schnelle was born in Brno, Czech Republic and studied theater and esthetics in Brno, Berlin, and Vienna. She received her PhD from the Theater Institute at Masaryk University, Brno, writing about the plays of Elfriede Jelinek (published under: Elfriede Jelinek a její divadlo proti divadlu, Brno: V?trné mlýny, 2006). She worked as an adjunct professor at the University Brno and co-founded the “internet theater magazine of objective anger”, YORICK. Since 2001, Barbora lives mostly in Berlin and works as a freelance theater critic (for the magazine, Sv?t a divadlo, Prague), journalist, and translator (having translated several plays by Elfriede Jelinek, Thomas Bernhard and others into Czech).
